Matt. 6:10 Thy kingdom comes…
The purpose of a kingdom is to establish and expand its government or system of rule by which a world will run with one King.
Matt. 6: 10 ……Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.
God is the King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev. 17:14; 19:16). As King, God has given His people everything about life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3), all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ, which includes but not limited to protection, health and financial prosperity (Eph. 1:3).
The kingdom of God is here on earth, now operating. In this kingdom of God you must understand how the government or system of rule works to benefit and function properly in the kingdom.
Just like in the kingdom of the United States, if you don’t know the laws of the land you can end up hurting yourself and the people around you because of your lack of knowledge.
Hos. 4:6…my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
To explain, In the United States there is a rule that you can’t just walk up to the front door of the White House in Washington, DC when you want without first going through the proper protocol, to do so would be suicide.
Likewise, in the Kingdom of God, God has established a system of rule that has protocols and benefits. The kingdom of God is so amazing that to truly operate in it would be the beginning of Heaven on earth, in your life now, and not when you die and go to heaven.
In God’s kingdom you must understand that He is Love (John 4:8) and all His laws and protocols were established on love, an unconditional unchanging love.
Next, In God’s kingdom you must know, understand and recognize Grace, Truth and Mercy.
- Grace unearned, unmerited favor of God
- Truth the true or actual state of a matter
- Mercy act of kindness so you don’t get what you deserve
John 1:1 …the word was with God, and the word was God.
John 1:14 …the word was made flesh and dwelt among us……full of grace and truth.
God in the flesh, Jesus Christ, was the beginning of the true kingdom expansion on the earth. Since the fall of man, it’s been God’s plan to allow man to choose which kingdom he will operate under.
In the beginning Adam and Eve only knew God’s way of doing things. To only know one way of doing something (God’s kingdom way) would be to operate under that system by default not free will. God wanted people to be able to choose to operate under the kingdom of God’s rule not be forced to because of a limited of options. So for a while God allowed man to establish systems of rule, a system I call the world’s way of doing things (a government). Throughout history you can see man’s failed attempts (dictatorship, federalism, socialism, communism, democracy etc.) to create a utopia for the world called earth.
God knew what we needed and He sent Himself in the form of man to show us a better way over 2000 years ago. Jesus Christ full of grace and truth lived among us. He gave us the perfect example of operating in the kingdom of God.
If I could summarize exactly what Jesus did for us on the earth I would say, Jesus cleansed, restored and crowned every person willing to choose God’s kingdom over the world’s kingdom. Jesus did this not because we deserved it or earned it, we deserved and earned death and Hell on the earth and Hell in the afterlife.
He had shown us grace, mercy and truth because we chose to believe that He is the Alpha and Omega and His kingdom reign supreme.
What kingdom are you in?
